The Dell Vostro 3400 is a lightweight and sturdy desktop computer that comes with a choice of processors on which you can work or play. It is important for one to know that Dell has both consumer and business-class laptops, desktops, and printers that are designed for different needs.
The company has all the equipment users might need at an affordable price. For example, the Dell Vostro 3400 is suitable for serious gaming and much more besides.
A Quick Overview of the Dell Vostro 3400 Review
Performance
Dell Vostro 3400 is a very good laptop for a newbie. It is not the best, but I think it is the best for someone who has never had one before. I ordered this on Amazon and got it very quickly. There were no problems with shipping or other issues.
The processor is really good, the graphics are more than adequate for me at least, and I usually have three or four windows open at a time. The keyboard is easy to use, and I love the way it looks. It feels like a very expensive machine even though it wasn’t.
I do have one problem that I am hoping will be fixed by Dell tomorrow (Friday) when they call back to talk to me about my problem. The wireless card that comes with this machine has grayed out and will not send/receive wireless signals. I am currently using an ethernet cable to connect to the internet, but that isn’t great because I have to sit right next to my router in order to be connected.

Design and Build
The Dell Vostro 3400 is designed for business and looks like it with its black, blocky frame and matte textured finish. The inside of the laptop sports a black keyboard and bottom panel, with a silver screen bezel. Besides the Dell logo, there’s no bling or other adornments to distract from the machine’s business-like focus. There’s also no badging to advertise that it contains an Intel Core i5 processor.
The Vostro 3400 weighs 5.2 pounds and measures 1.3 inches thick, making it one of the thicker 14-inch laptops we’ve seen recently (the HP ProBook 5330m is even thicker at 1.4 inches). Still, this is a small laptop, about 13.5 x 9.4 inches wide and deep, respectively, though not designed for netbook-level portability.
The Vostro 3400 has a sturdy feel when you handle it — something you want in a business notebook — but doesn’t have any special security features such as fingerprint readers or Smart Card slots popular in some enterprise notebooks (nor does the ProBook 5330m).
Screen
The laptop has a 14-inch screen with standard resolution for the size of 1366 × 768 pixels. It is not a high-resolution panel, but you can’t expect anything better at this price. The screen is not very bright, but adequate for a bright room.
The color reproduction is good and there is no visible graininess on the display. The horizontal viewing angles are impressive, but the vertical viewing angles aren’t as great.
For a budget laptop, the Dell Vostro 3400 sports an amazing keyboard. The keys have a matte finish and ooze out premium feel. Although the keyboard lacks backlighting, it has a full size layout with dedicated num pad, which most laptops in this price range don’t offer. The keys are neither too soft nor hard and offer good feedback.
Hardware and Performance
Dell Vostro 3400 is a well-built laptop with attractive design and great features for the price. It’s odd that a system of this caliber has been delivered without an optical drive, but this isn’t the first time we’ve seen such an omission. Users who need an optical drive can easily buy an external one.
The Dell Vostro 3400 falls into the category of laptops that are designed for business people. But to be honest, a lot of people will find it good for general use. The design is simple and elegant and it doesn’t have all those fancy colors you get on consumer-oriented laptops.
The lid is made of aluminum and it feels very solid. The keyboard is also spill-resistant, which is another feature that will make business users happy as they are always in a hurry when they need to write something down on their laptop.
Battery Life and Temperature
The Dell Vostro 3400 has an internal temperature sensor that the power management system uses to adjust the fan speed based on the current operating temperature. A higher fan speed is needed when the computer is running at full power to help keep it cool.
The power management system also monitors the battery charge level and adjusts the fan speed based on this level as well. When you are using the computer on battery power, a higher fan speed is used when the computer is running at full power to help keep it cool and prolong battery life.
As your battery charge level drops, the computer automatically switches to a lower fan speed, which helps to prolong your battery life by reducing its energy consumption. When you are using the computer on AC power, a lower fan speed is used because of a reduced need for additional cooling.
User Experience
The Dell Vostro 3400 is a 14 inches business laptop with a plastic chassis that’s designed to be moderately priced for the SMB market. It has a Core i3 CPU and it costs 36K INR.
The Vostro 3400’s plastic chassis feels solid but it doesn’t look overly stylish. It has rounded edges and looks like most other business laptops, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. The lid is textured and resistant to fingerprints and smudges, but the chassis itself can be easily marked by dirt and grime.
Conclusion
The Dell Vostro 3400 is a budget business laptop that has some good features for the price. It is easy to carry around and it is spill-resistant, which makes it great for business people who need to write something down on their laptop.
It is a little difficult to find a good balance between the design and performance. The laptop is quite heavy, but it is not that bulky. The keyboard is very responsive and the backlit keys are easy to use in low light conditions.
